Genre Research: Aladdin (2019)

Low angles are used to make the villain of this film seem very powerful. This film uses tracking shots to follow the characters through fast-paced scenes, such as the chase through the marketplace. Aladdin used medium-close up shots to show the character's emotions when reacting to a person or thing. The mix of diegetic and non-diegetic sounds during the singing scenes helps to really cement the magical and nostalgic feel and it was striving for. Aladdin is a romance movie as well as a fantasy one, so they used shot/reverse shot to show the main characters interacting with each other.

The costumes for this movie were very intricate, as they needed to have them as close as possible to the animated original, while also making it very detailed to fit into the live-action, fantasy world around them. The lighting if this movie was bright for the most part, as the scenes are joyful, magical, and romantic. The acting for Aladdin had to be perfect, because not only is this film set in a mythical world, but it also must stay true to the personalities and actions of the original animated film. The film uses magical props, such as a flying rug, and a magical lamp, which helps cement it in its fictional world. Aladdin is set in a fictional Arabian/South Asian nation called Agrabah, and contains fantastical and magical elements commonly found in fantasy movies.

An element of Aladdin I like is the incorporation of different struggles and personally challenges whether they are magical or not.
