Still Figuring Out The Music

Image
I planned to finish filming over spring break. (Yeah, that didn't happen.) We took a surprise trip to Daytona the whole week. While I was there, I decided to work on picking the music for the film. I figured out that I didn't want to use instrumental music. To me, it wouldn't make any sense. The girl is just casually listening to music. I don't know many people who walk around listening to just instrumental music.    So I began to look for copyright free music with lyrics. YouTube was my searching ground. I looked around for a bit and then started a detailed search. I kept finding hours long compilations and mixes of songs. They all sounded very intriguing, but I was looking for a single song that I could use. I resumed my search with no luck, so I went to Google. Somehow, searching on Google gave me more specific YouTube videos *scratching my head in confusion*. But anyways, I began to look through those videos. There were a couple I liked, but didn't feel like th

Experimental Editing

Although I didn't have all of the footage I needed to get into the heavy editing, I still wanted to try a few thing out. I wanted to see how I could put the footage together and produce something that didn't look absolutely horrible.     Before I could start editing though, I needed to find a program that would let me do what I needed. It also had to be free, which was very tricky. I kept searching Google and YouTube for software and tutorials to find what i needed. It took awhile. I went through so many videos and websites, looking for what I wanted. Some were promising, but turns out they weren't free. Others had some things I needed for this project, but lacked others. Some, I just found too confusing. Eventually, i found a program that allowed me to do what I needed to work on my project.  I started by watching a few YouTube tutorials and tips and tricks videos. They helped a lot. They gave me the basic knowledge to navigate the program. Some even gave me step by st

First Day of Filming..... A Partial Success

The first thing I filmed was the scene with the sorceress (played by my sister) running through the woods. We went to a small local park close to my house to film. It was an all around difficult experience. We had to find a position that would hide the street and cars around the park. Along with that, we had to get into good positions where I could film her when she ran. It was extremely hard. We had to reshoot so many times. Keeping up with her was hard, especially when I had to try to keep the camera steady. I have so many shots that started off good, but by the time she got to running, were all blurry and cut off. She would either run too fast for me to film, or run to slow, where I couldn't make it believable. It took many tries to even get the first scene right. We eventually got it, which was a relief. The next scene also took a while. It was hard getting the right angle and positions for the next scene. We tried over, and over, and over to get something we could work wi

Trying to Figure Out the Titles

Image
Because of the rain, I couldn't film over the weekend. So the past few days, I've been trying to figure out how to add the titles to the film. I needed to figure out how to get them to appear and and disappear. As well as how to make it seem not to out of place in the film. As I stated the font I plan on using is called  .    I have to figure out how to manipulate the screen to in order to make them work in the film. I started out in PowerPoint, because they have transitions you can embed into your PowerPoint. I messed aroind with this for a bit, and I liked the original idea i had for the design. I did however get very distracted messing with the different transitions though. Ever though PowerPoint helped to show me that I did indeed like the effects of the titles, I still didn't know how to add it to a regular video.    So I began my search. I started with Google and I found different mobile apps that allowed you to add text to different parts of the video. These were

My First Music Blog

Image
I have to start this blog off with a bit of bad news. I planned on filming a few of my scenes this weekend, but I wasn't able to do any of them. It rained the entire weekend, with only a few stops in-between. Thanks Florida weather, I really appreciate it. I couldn't even film the scene at my house, that's how bad the rain was.     Instead, I decided to look up the music I would use for the film, as there wasn't much else I could do without footage. I scrolled through Spotify first, seeing if any of the songs caught my eye. I found a few that I liked, but I didn't feel like they fit well for my movie. I kept at it for a bit before deciding that I'd try something else.    I then went to YouTube, the queen of all video inspiration. I started out still looking at copyrighted song, as I still planned on getting the proper right to use a song. I kept scrolling. And searching. And scrolling. And even more searching, but I didn't find anything that I thought wou
