Research: Pop-Rock Music Videos

The genre of the song we chose for our music video is Pop-Rock

Camera Angles, Movement, and Shots
  • They use eye level angles in these music videos, as you can see the actors reactions and emotions to certain things in the video.
  • Tracking shots are also commonly used to follow a character during a scene.
  • These types of music videos usually use close ups of the actor singing, to show the emotions on their face.

Costume, Lighting, Acting, Makeup, Props, and Set
  • Clothing can range anywhere from regular clothing, to extremely dark, to obscure costumes.
  • Lighting is usually dark and gloomy, or bright and alive, as there is a lot of variety in the genre.
  • The acting for these videos are usually in you face, emotion heavy, basically singing to the camera.
  • Makeup is usually just regular make-up, nothing too flashy, or the most crazy, abnormal makeup you can think of.
  • There can be a variety of prop,as each song is different. Sometimes the props relate to the lyrics of the song while other times they are completely unrelated.
  • The sets of these music videos can be very broad, it all depends on what you want to portray.

Sound
  • This is a music video, so the sound would be whatever song they are singing. The genre is pop rock, which actually has a lot of variety, so the sounds can vary.
  • There is sometimes ambient sound at the beginning or end of these songs.

Editing
  • Jump cuts are commonly used to end scenes, and transport characters to different settings.
