Opening Scene Script

Title- The Pen on the Pavement 

Scene 1    

  • -        Sorceress runs through the woods, constantly looking back while running
  • -        You can hear her footprints and breathing
  • -        She stops and takes out a magic object and clicks a button
  • -        It opens a portal, not seen on camera, but heard. (A whooshing noise)
  • -        Sorceress looks back then steps through the portal
  • -        You can hear it close. (Same whooshing noise)

Scene 2

  • -        Tilt down to a pen on the sidewalk
  • -        Fade to Black

Scene 3

  • -        Shot of a girl sitting while putting shoes on
  • -        You can only see her lower half
  • -        Cut to her walking out the front door, locking it, and walking down the driveway.
  • -        While she’s walking, she puts the hood of her hoodie up.

Scene 4

  • -        Cut to a long shot of a girl walking up to a crosswalk.
  • -        She puts her earbuds in, and music begins to play (becomes trans-diegetic sound)
  • -        She crosses the street walking towards the camera.

Scene 5

  • -        Cut to establishing shot of the crowded city street.
  • -        Cut to her walking down the street
  • -        She continues to walk around and observe people walking.
  • -        She looks down at her watch and looks back up
  • -        She sees a woman watching her across the street
  • -        Cut to the woman’s view of her.
  • -        Cut back to the girl looking back at the woman and losing her in the crowd
  • -        She continues to walk
  • -        She looks down to check her phone then continues to walk
  • -        She sees another person in front of her somewhere looking at her, but she ignores it.
  • -        Cuts to shot of her feet while she is walking
  • -        She hits a pen with her foot and looks down
  • -        She sees it and looks around to see if anyone saw her, then picked it up
  • -      She pockets the pen and continues walking

Scene 6

  • -        She bumped into a tall man with a scowling expression
  • -     Her earbuds are knocked out and the music stops
  • -        Angry Man: HEY! Watch where you’re walking!
  • -        Girl (quietly ): Sorry
  • -        She keeps walking
  • -        Shot of her hoodie pocket with her hand in it and the pen sticking out
  • -        Fade to black

Filming the Rest of our Video

     After filming and editing a majority of the video already, I only had to shoot a few scenes. I had to print out a few pictures we took on the first day we filmed, and film a stop motion scene of them being added on top of each other. This gave me a lot of trouble, as I could find anywhere to print out the pictures. I went to two different Walgreens, but both of their photo departments were down. We also when to CVS, but had the same results. Eventually, we just had to got to Walmart and get photo paper for our printer, which I didn't know my printer could use. We went home and It worked fine, so I got to work actually filming.       I set up my area on my dining room table, using my parent's phone as a flashlight, and my phone to take the pictures. I set up a stand for my phone to keep the pictures steady, and I took the pictures, adding one photo each time. I sent it to my laptop, added it to the video, and moved on to my other scenes. First Day of Filming..... A Partial Success

     The first thing I filmed was the scene with the sorceress (played by my sister) running through the woods. We went to a small local park close to my house to film. It was an all around difficult experience. We had to find a position that would hide the street and cars around the park. Along with that, we had to get into good positions where I could film her when she ran. It was extremely hard. We had to reshoot so many times. Keeping up with her was hard, especially when I had to try to keep the camera steady. I have so many shots that started off good, but by the time she got to running, were all blurry and cut off. She would either run too fast for me to film, or run to slow, where I couldn't make it believable. It took many tries to even get the first scene right. We eventually got it, which was a relief.
